Best gift advice ever.

Well, except mine--give cards and don't buy stuff. Stuff is overrated, IMO. I made agreements with my family that gifts are only for birthdays, not other holidays. This way each of us gets something special one day a year and the rest of the time we just try to be nice to each other. It's worked out very well.
