Chaos Is Trump’s Weapon of Mass Distraction
No one will have the energy to fight criminality and corruption if they are suffering daily
I have been quiet for a while because I didn’t have anything to add. Everybody is already saying everything I’ve been thinking, and it hasn’t mattered much.
Legal battles are won by the good guys every day, but with the current team of criminally insane appointees at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and the Department of National Intelligence, the crimes just keep on coming.
The president is threatening Federal Judges who dare to call out his illegal behavior, and the Supreme Court is in his back pocket. Enforcement of laws is impossible under these circumstances, so all the legal triumphs are, for now, nothing but pyrrhic victories.
Still, they are important. At some point, when the cult of Trump falls apart (and it will) and other people are in charge, there may yet be some accountability. For now, the most important thing we can do is stay focused on what we can control, and what will make a real difference — not just give us a momentary emotional bump.
