Every society prior to the industrial revolution enslaved someone because nobody wanted to do the hard labor. It didn't provide "democratic" freedom--it provided economic freedom--but ONLY for whites.

The fact that white Americans want to continue to justify that decision by pretending Black people are inferior or that the skills Blacks developed (which only helped white people, not those who were enslaved) just shows that they've learned nothing.
