I asked what "equity" means to you because the point of DEI (as I understand it) is to promote thoughtfulness rather than hard and fast rules. I've found that when people are asked about fairness they usually understand what it means. And often unfair practices are not so much intentional as a result of failure to be thoughtful and self-aware.

There are always those who willfully misunderstand intent and focus on twisting concepts to prove a point--but I prefer not to focus on them.

To me, the words "diversity, equity, and inclusion" simply mean the willingness to include those who are different and to treat them fairly. I don't know why some people (I don't mean you!) insist on turning it into some kind of battle.
