I can see how it would feel that way to a black person. But I believe the author of this piece is correct and the problem is that too many white men just haven't joined the fight yet.

Before we blame them, I think we need to acknowledge that most people, regardless of color, gender, etc., are going to focus on fighting the battles they can't escape. For many white men, racism isn't their fight--but that needs to change.

It's time to expand our awareness and fight for democracy and fairness for all--and that also means black men have to fight for women's rights in the same way white men have to fight for people of color--no matter that it's not their personal battle.

We are finally beginning to realize that any affront to democracy is every American's personal battle now. Let's hope we can rise to the occasion.
