I don't buy this excuse. Hitler was known, specifically for his desire to create a "master race" and a "pure race" and that language was constantly used his speeches and propaganda. I learned about this in elementary school (public, not private).

It is ironic to me that so many people have a fit when white people use words poorly if there is even a hint of racism toward Black people, yet Whoopi has people making excuses for her.

I write about discrimination a lot--I am not excusing anybody for this sort of thing--but for someone who has undoubtedly experienced racism herself to be so incredibly ignorant of the entire point of Hitler's Nazi regime, is astounding to me.

However, I don't think she should have been fired. On the contrary, an expert in Nazi history and propaganda should have been booked on the next show to provide accurate information. It's a shame they didn't do that.
