I don't think this is about keeping Trump in the spotlight at all--it's about their attempt to avoid a trial showing how complicit Republicans have been in Trump's Big Lie. If they put Trump on trial, all that will come out. This is nothing more than an attempt to protect themselves, IMO--it's not about Trump--it has never been about Trump. From the beginning Trump was a pawn, just like George W. Bush.

But this time, rather than trying to democratize the Middle East and steal their oil, it's now about maintaining the old world order: white/male/Christian rule.
