I still don’t think that in the long run it makes that much difference. I’ve been married and single and the money I gained in tax advantages was minimal compared to what I have made investing wisely. That was all I was trying to say. And in some states, you can get the same advantages from a domestic partnership.

It felt to me like the bulk of your piece was about single people not getting money from parents and spending a lot of attending weddings, so that was the point I was attempting to highlight.
