I was also surprised to hear Biden and Harris deny that America is racist. America is racist and misogynistic. I see the misogyny more myself because I'm a white woman. But both are prevalent.

All I need to do to see how racist this country is is to watch TV, read stories on the internet or talk to a black person about their life experiences.

Denial gets us nowhere.

When a man is surprised at my intelligence, I know he believes women are less intelligent than men. Likewise, when a white person shows surprise at a black person's ability to be articulate, they are showing their own misperceptions of what black people are capable of.

It's time we saw these comments as weakness on the part of the speaker, not a lack on the part of the person they are addressing.

I'm happy to see so many people of color proving that the myth of white supremacy is just that, a myth. I just can't believe it's taken this long.

I am sorry to say that black people need to teach white people how to act. Just as women need to teach the same to men.
