I was reminded of Brett Kavanaugh. While Rittenhouse broke down at a strategic point in the trial--and I believe his sobs were genuine--I suspect his tears were more for himself and his fear of imprisonment than for the people he killed.

Just as Kavanaugh's anger and belligerence was not, I think, the righteous anger of an innocent man. Rather, it was the anger of one who believed he was entitled to a seat on the Supreme Court and wasn't about to be punished for something all the other elite white boys he grew up with got away with.
