Congress abandons the Constitution as Trump’s army prepares to attack

Today, we are watching Trump behave as if he’s already president, and everybody is acting like he can’t be stopped. But he can.

We have a rule of law that has given us the tools to prevent Trump from being sworn in. Yet Congress, fearful of the consequences of such a dramatic course of action, is paralyzed.

We need to remove that paralysis.

Let’s start by acknowledging that SCOTUS deliberately misled us about what the 14th Amendment Section 3 requires of Congress and what it means for Congress to validate SCOTUS’ deliberate manipulation of the law, despite knowing better.

Here is the text of this section of the 14th Amendment:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or…
