Interesting concept. I love that you did all the math on it!

Personally, I think structural changes that allow more opportunity to make money and invest it safely are the answer. We could start by making it illegal for Congress to take money from lobbysits if we're really serious.

If we start taking directly from people to give to other people in this way, I worry that it won't help us overall.

When you give money to people they don't value it the way they do when they work for it. I think studies have shown this, but I can't cite any off the top of my head.

We have so many inherent conflicts of interest in how our governmental institutions are set up, even if we level the playing field now, it will quickly become uneven again. We need to get to the source of the problem, I think, rather than deal directly with the current outcome.
