It is such an interesting question, whether man can "create" an artificial life form. I believe the limitations of our human consciousness and our senses will prevent us from creating consciousness--we can only create approximations of it.

And I also believe our real goal as a species is to evolve our consciousness, not to attempt to play Creator games. We can create much using our physical sciences, but since consciousness is not a physical thing, rather a metaphysical thing, I don't see that actually happening--ever. But I could be wrong and sometimes being wrong is not a bad thing. ;-)
