This is so true. I call this "negativity porn" -- having just read the latest spew about how toxic ALL companies are and how NONE of them want us to be productive. Blah, blah, blah.

I'm tired of it. I had a boss who told me if I wanted to write about problems, I should be prepared to present at least one potential solution. It was the second best advice a boss ever gave me.

The best, from the same man, was his response when I said I felt like I didn't have time to go back to school: "If it's important to you, you will need to say 'no' when people ask you to stay late at work. Then you'll have time."

I asked if I could say "no" to him and his response was "absolutely." Two years later I completed my B.S. This was the CEO of a company I worked for--he looked out for me. But nobody wants to hear that because negativity is so much more compelling.
