Well, if he did have a death wish, this is a great example of “Be careful what you wish for.”
Despite what seemed to me to be an obvious bias on the part of the judge, the more I read about it the more it becomes clear that the laws and our system are more problematic than the specific verdict here — or than any bias the judge might have had.
It’s one more example of how easy it is to make assumptions based on emotional reactions vs. facts. As much as we all want to think we are not susceptible to it, it’s clear we are.
