Lobbyists show up to fund raisers and put checks in a little bowl. Most have a minimum contribution to even get a seat at the table, so people like Joe Manchin can make a lot in a night.

We allow this to happen during legislative season in D.C. They all do it. Then when they want to get support for their own legislation, to make their constituents happy, they buy votes from other members.

We need to take the money out of politics. Nothing else will ever allow us to use our knowledge and resources wisely--because people with money and power get used to it and they will simply not vote to forgo the benefits they now have. It is up to citizens to insists on new politicians who will break this system once and for all.
