Yes! I agree with you. I'm working on a series on political reform. We need to reverse Citizens United, for one.

I also recently read Extortion by Peter Schweitzer. He outlines how Congress makes money off legislative issues and what we can do to help remove some of the inherent conflicts of interest in the government.

I keep meaning to get started on it, but current events keep getting me riled up, and I end up writing about them instead. But it's on my list.
