You are so right! Still, it's not easy to be patient. I read once that men fall in love with women based on who they are and women fall in love with men based on who they could be.

Which makes me wonder how much of these tendencies are hardwired.

Still, as you point out, both partners need to change to have a good relationship. And as long as we make requests vs demands and remain respectful toward one another, there is hope.
